As the Chief Operating Officer of a major energy utility with nuclear reactors, Diane Leopold knew she had more pressing matters than “playing on Twitter.” But she was savvy enough to understand that modern leaders need to meet people where they are. I created protocols that would find the best platform for her, increase her followers but still generate content genuine to her without swallowing her valuable time. She started with less than 200 followers and had 12,000 when she retired from Dominion Energy just a few years later. She still uses the platform as a member of many boards today.
What many miss in supporting executives is establishing a trusting relationship and being able to speak truth to power as you find that leader’s strengths and true wants. No technical ability or knowledge of the latest trends matters until you start with that foundation.
Executive Thought Leadership & Personal Brands
“...he had never seen a leader video like this before-speaking not only of DE but any major company.”
“Thank you for making this easy for me.”
Content creation for executives can be overthought. One content source was that I simply blended her daily travels into progress reports. She snapped a photo, and sent me a voicemail. One minute of her effort showed employees their hard work was bringing real results. Build trust, not just clever content.
Show your leader’s passions and I will show you people that will follow them more passionately.
